From saddler to Hallmaker

1919: Hans Kristian Torgersen starts as a saddler in Oslo, making harnesses and horse saddles.


1954: Arne Torgersen takes over the business and forms the company Hans Torgersen & Son in Oslo. Their main product is refurbishing car interiors, and eventually upholstery.


1960: Hallmaker starts producing tarpaulins for VW Pickup.


1966: Hallmaker move from Oslo to Skui in Bærum.


1969: Hallmaker moves to Krøderen in Buskerud where two modern workshops are established, one of them equipped with an automatic high frequency welding machine for PVC membrane. Demand for PVC halls is increasing rapidly, so a workshop for steel frames for PVC halls is established.


1984: Third generation takes over the company, and divides the company into two separate units, Hallmaker Group AS and HTS Hans Torgersen & Son AS.


1987: Hallmaker sign their first leasing contract with SAS (Scandinavian Airlines).


2002: Hallmaker patents its insulated plastic hall concept under the trademark Thermohall®.


2005: Hallmaker acquires majority shareholding in Balcony Systems AS, a Norwegian supplier of railings and balcony glazing products.


2006: Hallmaker establishes itself in the steel construction market by acquiring Linto AS.


2009: Hallmaker buys 50% of the Rubb Group and 100% of the shares in Arqdesign Building Products AB.


2010: Hallmaker establishes itself for the first time abroad with subsidiary Konstpol in Poland, a company that supplies steel buildings and steel structures for the Polish and Scandinavian markets.


2011: Hallmaker Lokaluthyrning AB is established in Sweden.


2012: Hallmaker Lease Inc. is established in the United States. Their first delivery is a freight terminal for Virginia International Terminals.


2013: Hallmaker Rental Oy is established in Finland. First customer is Prysmian Cables & Systems Oy.


2014: Hallmaker build hangars for Norwegian`s Dreamliner aircraft at Gardermoen, the largest contract in Hallmakers history. Another prestigious project this year is Shell’s Educational Center at the Ormen Lange land facility at Aukra.


2015: Hallmaker Ltd. is established in England.
